Holiday stress reliever

There is so much to do this time of year. We aren't much for going to parties, but with decorating, shopping etc. it keeps a person busy and a little crazed.

This year we have decided that we weren't going to let that stress get out of hand. We were going to take advantage of some great prices on Vegas vacations
. Taking a few days off in the midst of all of the hustle and bustle can be just what the doctor ordered.

We booked a trip for a great price. We'll only be gone three days and I expect to come back ready to pick up with the holiday doings without missing a beat. We just make this a holiday tradition.

We're all busy thinking about Christmas decorating, shopping and parties. It's also time to start thinking about insurance and do our yearly shopping for that as well.

Years ago we stayed with one insurance company and even became friends with our agent. Today we realize that insurance rates are competitive therefore it just makes sense to yearly shop and compare insurance quotes.

With the Internet, this process is a lot easier now. With sites like www.2insure4less you can compare prices no matter what your insurance needs may be.

It's all about getting the best coverage for the least amount of money. That's the name of the game today and always.

We're getting ready to do some remodeling. For us this is an adventure. It gives us a chance to make things more suitable to our needs and to improve the function and appearance of a room or rooms that have become outdated.

After a lot of searching when we redid our bathroom last year, we found just what we were looking for when we bought Moen faucets. They had the variety and quality that we were looking for. Each time we use those appliances, we're glad once again for having bought Moen fixtures. When we do our kitchen we don't have to do any shopping. We'll just go to www.faucet.com and find just what we need.

Do you have a favorite team, school, club, group that you and your friends want to promote? Maybe you and your group just want to advertise what you stand for. With Christmas around the corner, if you're looking for an unusual give for your friends, how about matching t-shirts that sport your favorite activity or team logo on it. I know a family that is expecting their first granddaughter after having six grandsons. Everyone in that family is so excited. I can see all sorts of possibilities for an unusual family gift advertising that precious pink bundle of joy that is on the way.......and this is only the beginning.....

I love Thanksgiving. Our girls are both so busy with work and raising a family that we don't have many opportunities to get together. Thanksgiving brings that wonderful time to gather together, share a meal, catch up on what's happening with everyone, and just making some wonderful memories.

We all always eat way too much, but that's what Thanksgiving is all about after all. Great food, great company, a great day.

Imitation. The most sincere form of flattery

Imitation. In this case I'm talking about imitation in the form of replica watches. In so many cases, those high priced watches are in demand because of the prestige that they bring to the owner.

Are these high priced products that much better? In some cases they are, but in many cases, not so much. Replica jewelry, and in this case watches, are a lot more practical but still have the great design.

With money being tight this season, buying replica watches is a great way to get something nice for your loved one, but still save those exorbitant prices. I really like this idea and intend to shop around for some good reproductions.

Christmas is just around the corner

The face of Christmas has changed a lot around our house. For one thing, we don't decorate as much as we once did. I think that's mainly because we don't have the family over here, but instead, go to our daughter's where the entire family gathers.

Another way that Christmas has changed is shopping. At one time, my husband would take a day off work while the kids were in school, and we'd shop all day long and get everything done in one day. That would leave wrapping and shipping to me. I appreciated my husband sharing the shopping and we always made it a special day for the two of us as well.

Today, I don't buy as much for one thing, but for another, I do my shopping while sitting in this computer chair in my office. I chose gifts, I order them, have many of them wrapped and shipped right to the grand kids out of state.

Yup, things have changed a lot over the years. Santa doesn't even have to don his red suit trimmed in fur. "He" just has to sit here with a cup of coffee, in a nightie, robe and slippers. Ah yes, the face of Christmas certainly has changed. Ho! Ho! Ho!

Travel Insurance: A must have for travelers!

My husband and I love to travel. We have a motor home and are in the process of getting our lives in order so that we can travel as much as we want. I hope to see everything we can get to on land, and maybe even a little "by sea".

We have been advised by many fellow travelers to get some good travel insurance. This advice comes from others who have been traveling when the unexpected happens. Someone gets sick while in another country, or something else happens.

Investing in a good policy that covers those unexpected happenings is going to be the first purchase we make when we're ready to take off on our next adventure. We've been lucky so far. I don't want to press that luck.

While doing some research on diet aids today I came across a site that I wanted to share with my readers. It's www.consumerpricewatch.net and the product they reviewed is a weight loss aid called Stacker. If you are using this product or intend to, it would be worth your while to read what this company has to say.

Having set criteria that weight loss aids must meet, they have also reviewed and rated the others on the market and have come up with a list of the top 10 aids that they recommend.

I really appreciate sites like these. We owe it to our readers to be responsible about what we endorse.

After finding the weight loss aid you chose to use, do check with your doctor before starting it. That is just good sense.

GPS systems

We love to travel in our motor home and intend to do a lot more of it in the future. My husband has been looking at GPS systems. When we're in a strange place we can't always find a campground when we're ready to stop.

Today, there are so many electronics available, and a wide variety of GPS systems are available.

I'm going to give my husband the url for www.buy.com and let him look at their electronic section. I think he'll be pleased with what he finds there.

One of our granddaughters wants a laptop computer for Christmas. While shopping online I found a great buy at www.buy.com. I can get a great computer for less than $500. It has everything that she needs and looks great too.

We all know how important how something looks is to a teenager. Well, I have one gift out of the way and I saved some money too. I'm on my way.

Exercise!

Every day we need to get in some exercise. Doctors say that we need at a minimum, 30 minutes a day of exercise. I don't care much for exercising, but I have found that if I listen to audio books or Christian music, that turns that exercising into something rather enjoyable in my day.

I never thought that I would be able to use those two words, exercise and enjoyment in the same sentence, but I can.

I wanted to share this with you in case you're finding it hard to get motivated to get out there and walk. This just may be what you need to help you. It's worth a try.

I was surprised to learn the other day that my foot pain has a name and it also has a treatment and cure. That's exciting to me!

My right foot has been bothering me for some time. It hurts when I step on it, though is worse in the morning and when I do a lot of walking. What I have done is injured the tendon that connects the heel of my foot to my toes. This tissue supports the arch of one's foot.

I can't tell you how excited I was to find that there is treatment for my foot pain and that it's called Plantar Fasciitis.

Bosch has come out with something new, a tankless water heater. Just when you think there isn't much that can be done to improve something, someone goes and does it. That is awesome.

Water heaters are pretty bulky items and most of us have just settled for the fact that we have to have those unsightly tanks and we just ignore their presence and the fact that they take up a lot of room in our garages.

However, with this new tank less water heater, it's small and hangs on a wall. It carries enough water for two people in your home to be showering at the same time. If it can do that, it can handle any other demand we should be needing to place on it.

I'm excited about this and intend to get one as soon as our tank is ready to be replaces.

Halloween over for another year!

I don't like Halloween. I have NEVER liked Halloween and I will never like Halloween. That said, I think you get the idea that I'm not a big Halloween fan.

When our kids were younger it was, of course, one of their favorite times of the year. I'd get into the spirit of things and help them with costumes, often making them myself. They were so cute all dressed up. Then they'd go out trick or treating and come home with a big bag of candy. We never had a lot of sweets in our house, so I really hated this part of it. "Brush your teeth. You just had candy" was my song for most days until they had their candy eaten up and I could get off of their cases for another year.

I don't decorate our house ever, but we do participate for the kids in the neighborhood, but again, it's not something I do willingly. I wanted to get bags of toy spiders, snakes, bats etc to hand out, but my husband said we'd get our house egged. I didn't think so, but we got candy as we usually do.

I don't like Halloween. But I'm done griping for this year. Aren't you glad? =)

To buy or not to buy, is that the question?

My husband have this debate often and have yet reached a decision as to what is best. The question is, should we have life insurance at this point in our lives? We are retired and on a fixed income, though we both have jobs too to keep our lives interesting. So, we discuss this question.

I even went online and did some research, getting life insurance quotes. Finding out that it isn't as expensive as we thought it was, was good to know. Now to decide if we need it or not.

I appreciate sites online who will give free quotes on these things. That helps a lot.

I'm a Republican. I ask myself why I am a Republican and it comes down to what my party stands for. That's what keeps me voting the way I do.

This election is different, though. I really like Barack Obama. I like what he stands for and I like what he has to say. I even was considering voting a Democratic ticket this election. After watching the Democratic convention, I was seriously swayed.

Ah, but then the Republicans held their convention and there was no doubt that I wanted to vote the man my party has selected as our next president, John McCain. This man is the one who has that rare quality that I look for and rarely find in any of the politicians. He has a sincere love in his heart for his/our country. With that loving heart, he's the man to lead us through this rough time. He'll see us through and bring us out on the other side stronger than before. I know he will.

Get out and vote, my friends. It's our RIGHT. It's our PRIVILEGE. It's our DUTY!!

Thinking about graduation already

I guess it's never early enough to plan for special days. Our grandson will graduate from high school this year. We've decided that we want to get him some Delsey luggage. I've been looking at luggage whenever I see it on sale, so I feel that I am almost an expert on luggage these days.

Anyway, the reason that we chose this brand of luggage is the amount of storage you get per piece. Every item has a ton of pockets where you can stick all of the things you want to take with you. We would need to buy more pieces if we were to purchase another brand. Keeping the number of bags you take with you to a minimum is essential these days now that airlines are charging per bag.

Yes, this is definitely the brand to buy if you're looking for good luggage.

I was so surprised yesterday when my husband came home with his arms full of flowers for me. What was the occasion, you might ask.

Well, it wasn't a special occasion exactly. What happened was that he was working on a job and needed spring plungers. Being a woman I don't have a clue what that is or what it's used for, but I can search for anything on here and I did.

I managed to find a website that had just what he needed, www.reidsupply.com. He ordered what he needed and was able to complete the job he was working on. It was a load off of his mind, so those flowers were to thank me for my help.

I knew the day would come when my web surfing would really pay off for me. =)

I have often heard people argue that their one little vote doesn't make that much difference. I was one of those, but no longer.

We had a local election this past summer for a school board post. A friend of ours was running and we strongly supported him, feeling that he would do great things for our local schools. There was early voting. We had been under a lot of stress and needed to get away for a while so left town, fully intending to vote when we got back. Well, by the time we returned we had missed our chance to vote. Guess what. There was a tie between our friend and the incumbent. A TIE!! Had my husband and I voted, our dear friend would have won. Either of our two votes could have changed everything!!!!!!

Well, there was a run off election. We worked to spread support for our friend, we voted, we did all we could do. He lost by only a few votes. This very special man would really have been a wonderful addition to our local school system. It needs changes badly and he would have made those changes.

When an election is important, as is the one for president, it is vital that we ALL VOTE! Every vote counts. I would certainly hate to see my candidate lose this election by one vote. It could happen. It could be my vote that would make that big difference.

Don't forget to vote, my friends. Your vote counts more than you could know.

This is a fascinating subject, I find. The use of meta tags, or keywords, or labels. Call them what you like. How the internet uses them amazes me.

I am looking forward to the debates tonight so did a search on Obama. The results brought back 204,000,000. That means that there are two hundred and four million top pages on the internet today that are about Obama.

Then I searched for my man McCain. I got back 141,000,000 of what Google considers the most interesting and important pages on McCain. Does that mean that more people are interested in Obama than they are McCain? Is Obama more controversial causing more people to write about him? I'm not sure.

My friend and author of blogavenues.com wrote an interesting post today on "Search Engine Optimization" today. If you're a blogger who likes to earn money by blogging, I encourage you to read www.blogavenues.blogspot.com today and often. After all, it's about blogging on topics of interest to our readers, so that they will return over and over to read what we write.

We all hear a lot about DNA. Hardly a day goes by that there isn't some news story about someone needing to have DNA testing done.
Do you ever wonder just where they send their samples to have them tested? I have. Well, I know now and so can you. Most of them go to dnacenter.com.

In visiting this website I learned that this testing center is the one that is responsible for determining paternity in many of the high profile cases in the news lately. I was surprised to learn that this company has won an award for the quality of their business practice.

I don't suppose most of us will have many opportunities to use such a service. It's nice to know just where to go if we do, however. This is another page that I intend to bookmark just in case someone I know needs this kind of service.

I really appreciate review sites, that is, a site that goes through the trouble to check out what's available on the market for a certain product or service and rates them. They tell you what they have found out about them.

Acnecuresrevealed.net is that sort of site. They have information on all of the top cures and treatments for acne. That is a subject near and dear to my heart as I have several grandchildren who are at that acne age or fast approaching it. I like to see them read up on products too. I try to encourage them to investigate before they try. I tell them that it's the smart thing to do.
